ISLAMABAD:

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam has said that the government has decided to use satellite to monitor the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami Project to ensure transparency.

“Data on increase or decrease of annual forest rate can be easily obtained through satellite monitoring. After this agreement, no one will be able to raise a finger on the transparency of the billion tree project,” he said while addressing a function on the Billion Tree Project held in Islamabad.

He said that a satellite monitoring agreement has been reached with EC Mode to ensure transparency in the 10 Billion tree Tsunami Project.

“One and a half billion trees have been planted in the initial phase of the billion tree project,” he said adding that satellite monitoring will make it easier to obtain data on the annual rate of increase or decrease of forest cover.

Aslam said that “we have lived up to our promise of transparency. Now no one will be able to raise a finger on the transparency of the 10 Billion Tree project”.

He said that Pakistan was moving forward with Imran Khan's green vision, which is being appreciated globally. Due to these green initiatives of Pakistan, Pakistan was given the award of “Leader in Forestry and Forestry Champion in the World”.
