Two Japanese Calendar Exhibitions were inaugurated in Islamabad in cooperation with the MEXT Alumni Association of Pakistan (MAAP), the Quaid-e-Azam University, and the National Skills University.
The exhibition, an annual feature of the cultural activities, showcases a vibrant depiction of the Japanese heritage and cultural identity by reflecting images from traditional to the contemporary area, such as arts, sports, automobiles, nature, heritage and architecture of Japan.

This year, around 65 calendars have been put on display with the cooperation of Japan Calendars Association and various Japanese companies.
Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan Wada Mitsuhiro Quaid-e-Azam University Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali inaugurated the show. The other exhibition was inaugurated by Cousellor, Head of Cultural Section IWASAKI Ryuji and National Skills University Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Mukhatar inaugurated the exhibition.
Speaking at the event Ambassador Wada said that the purpose for holding this exhibition is to introduce various facets of Japan to the people of Pakistan as a variety of calendars on display represent the beauty and true life image of Japan. He emphasised the significance of this year's exhibition being held twice in Islamabad for the first time by mentioning that this is a great development as more Pakistani students can feel Japan so close. This development surely will resonate with the celebration of the 70th anniversary, he added.
Most of the calendars being displayed at the exhibition are produced by private Japanese companies, and are printed on recycled paper which is a fine example of Japan’s efforts to be eco-friendly.
As this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Pakistan, the Embassy of Japan together in collaboration with Pakistani partners is planning various activities to commemorate the historic relations with an aim to promote people-to-people interactions and mutual understanding among the peoples of our two nations.
MAAP is the organisation of former Japanese Government Scholarship alumnus in Pakistan. MAAP President Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari and other members attended both ceremonies.
