CM announces repair of dilapidated section of watercourse

The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) signed an agreement for handing over the control of the lower portion of Chashma Right Bank Canal (CRBC) to the Punjab government on Monday.

Chief Minister Usman Buzdar was the chief guest at a ceremony where WAPDA General Manager Abdul Qayyum and Dera Ghazi Khan Irrigation Chief Engineer Sajid Rizvi signed the agreement.

The chief minister said on the occasion that the provincial government would improve water supply after getting control of the lower part of the canal from the authority.

He said consensus had been achieved about taking over the control of the project.

The chief minister highlighted that a huge amount would be allocated for the repair of the dilapidated section of the canal.

He announced that the staff of Chashma Right Bank Canal's portion in Punjab would be merged, adding that the provincial cabinet had approved the move.

The chief minister said the canal project would prove to be a game changer for agricultural progress.

WAPDA Chairman Lieutenant General (retd) Muzzamil Hussain, Punjab Irrigation Minister Muhammad Mohsin Khan Laghari, the provincial chief secretary, irrigation secretary and other officials concerned were also present on the occasion.
