Inspector General of Police (IGP) Rao Sardar Ali Khan on Thursday came down hard on the command of Lahore police over increasing incidents of robbery in the provincial capital.
During a meeting with DIG Operations Dr Abid Khan, DIG Investigation Shahzada Sultan and the SSPs of both wings, he asked them to come up with short and long term strategies for protection of life and property of citizens and curbing crimes.
The IGP directed the erstwhile CIA to do “a better job” for eradicating organised crime and rooting out professional criminals. He stressed quick completion of investigation and punishment of the criminals.
IGP Khan called for a patrolling plan for prevention of street crime and increase in the number of teams.
He added that the Anti-Vehicle Lifting System (AVLS) should be strengthened.
He ordered intelligence-based operations against motorbike and car thieve gangs in Lahore and zero tolerance for one-wheeling, kite flying and aerial firing.
The IGP directed Lahore police to undertake profiling of land grabbing groups occupying property of citizens and overseas Pakistanis.
