ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notices to the federal government on petitions against Section 20 of the ordinance amending the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), 2016, and sought the record of pending complaints from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The court also issued notice to the attorney general and summoned him on March 10 for assistance.

At the request of the Journalists Defense Committee, the court sought a report from the FIA on the pending complaints under section 20 of the PECA ordinance and asked the FIA to inform the court about the processing of the case under the said law.

The two petitions, combined with other cases, will be heard on March 10.
