KARACHI:

The bodies of a woman and her daughter, both shot in the head by unidentified assailant(s), were found from a house in Nazimabad.

During the preliminary investigation, the police declared the incident as an incident of personal enmity and started an investigation.

The bodies were found from house number 4G 5/8 in Nazimabad No4 within the limits of the Nazimabad police station. Upon receiving the information, Rangers and police officials arrived at the spot and immediately called the relevant officials to gather evidence.

Later, the bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital via ambulance for legal formalities. The mother was identified as Rubina, 60, and the daughter as Hira Jabeen, 35.

Talking to the media, SDPO Nazimabad Jamil Akhtar Bangash said that the women had been living in the house for a long time. Rubina's husband had remarried and was living in Gulshan-e-Iqbal with his second wife. He would often visit his first wife.

Bangash said as per preliminary investigation, there was no evidence of robbery or looting in the house. "The incident is still known to be a personal feud." He further said that the house from which the body of mother and daughter was found has two portions. The mother and daughter lived alone in one portion, while their other relatives occupied the other. It was reported that nobody in the vicinity heard the sound of gunfire.

"The main door of the house was open when the housemaid came to work in the house between 1.00 and 1.15pm in the afternoon. When she entered, the bodies of the mother and daughter were on the floor. The house help immediately informed their relatives,' the officer continued.

The SDPO said that the body of the daughter was found from the sofa, while the mother was found on a bed. "The killer is their acquaintance," he believed.

Police found a spent 9mm bullet shell at the scene, Bangash said, adding the casing was taken into police custody. Law enforcers were trying to obtain CCTV footage from cameras installed around the house so that the culprits can be traced.

Meanwhile, Rubina's husband, Shamoon, told the media that he married Rubina in 1997. Hira was his stepdaughter and his wife had been married before. Hira was the only daughter of Rubina's first husband.

The stepdaughter lived in the house and did not work anywhere. Shamoon got married for a second time in 2011 and is living with his second wife in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. He would visit his wife Rubina and his stepdaughter from time to time. He said that his wife belonged to Punjab while he belongs to Swat. He said he had no personal enmities.
