FAISALABAD:

An elderly couple have tied the knot here in Jhang after Faisalabad Darul Aman administration settled their marriage. 70-year-old Ghulam Nabi, resident of Chak No257, married 65-year-old Wakeelan Bibi, in a ceremony held at the Darul Aman on Wednesday. Bibi had been living in the darul aman since her husband’s death after 11 years of their marriage. Bibi is Nabi’s second wife. He has been separated from his first wife.

Nabi has three children from the first wife. “We could not get along and decided to divorce each other,” Nabi said, referring to his separation from his first wife. He said he wanted a partner to spend the rest of his days in peace. “I can’t do much work now but whatever little I have saved I will share with her so that both of us can spend rest of our lives happily,” he said.

Bibi said she had abandoned the idea of getting married again after her first husband’s death but added that Nabi appeared to be an honest and a caring man so she accepted his proposal.
