Three killed as coach overturns

Passengers blame poor road condition, reckless driving for accident

A bus travelling from Lahore to Paplan overturned at high speed on Khushabullah Road. As a result, thee people were killed and 10 others were injured. District Officer Rescue Engineer Hafiz Abdul Rashid said a call was received on the Punjab Emergency Service Department helpline that the bus had overturned. Rescue 1122 and Katha police reached the spot and shifted the dead bodies of 40-year-old Nasrullah, 50-year-old Mohammad Ijaz and 30-year-old Asad to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Khushab, while the injured, hailing from from Paplan, Mianwali, Chua, Joharabad and Khushab, were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital, Joharabad. The injured have been identified as 41-year-old Alamgir; 30-year-old Rizwan; 25-year-old Zahid; 22-year-old Waqas, and 26-year-old Ghulam Yaseen and 35-year-old Wasim.

Meanwhile, four people were killed in a road accident near Sadiqabad, in Rahim Yar Khan district on Thursday. According to details, a recklessly driven trailer hit a two-wheeler passing along the National Highway, killing four people on the spot. Police and rescue teams rushed to the site and began shifting the bodies to a nearby hospital. Police are investigating the matter.

Mohammad Noman, a local said that many accidents have taken place on this road due to speeding but the administration has failed to deter drivers and transporters from reckless driving. The other major problem is the poor condition of the road, which makes high-speed driving particularly hazardous and has led to the high frequency of incidents.
