ABBOTABAD:

The first-ever appellate forum/court of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Information Commission (KPIC) became operational at the divisional headquarter of Hazara in Abbottabad on Thursday.

The KP government will establish the KPIC forums/courts in other divisions of the province soon. On Thursday, KPIC Commissioner Riaz Khan Daudzai, along with his team, including Abbottabad Assistant Registrar Hamad Ahmed at the Abbottabad Divisional Office sent summons to various departments.

The courts will not only reduce the workload of the commission, but also save the complainants additional fatigue and valuable time and resources.

The divisional offices of these officers will not only help to enforce the Right To Information (RTI) Act in K-P through a framework of cooperation with PIOs, media and civil society, but also improve accountability of the administration.

Such appellate forums in other divisions of the province will start functioning in the near future.
