The Fahad Mustafa and Saba Qamar-starrer music video shows a love-fuelled journey of emotional and physical sacrifices

After multiple teasers and months of wait, the first single from Asim Azhar’s debut album is finally here! The music video for Kabhi Mai Kabhi Tum, featuring Fahad Mustafa and Saba Qamar Zaman, takes us on a love-fuelled journey of emotional and physical sacrifices made in the quest of unique passions.

Described as a tale of true love, the romantic track was released to write off any Monday blues on February 28th. Mustafa essays the role of a fierce fighter in the boxing ring, and an even dedicated lover willing to risk it all outside of it for Zaman, a visually impaired sculpture artist who plays his lover.

Showcasing glimpses of their adorable affair, Zaman and Mustafa are seen in picturesque landscapes, playing around with their puppy and getting intimate just before the latter agrees for a life-risking fight to win money for the former’s eye surgery. However, it appears that by the time the Baaghi star sees the light in the world, her love is no longer in sight.

The makers of the video revealed that it is based on a Korean film titled Always. The clip begins with a note saying, “Based on a heart touching story. Inspired by [the] true essence of love which has been adapted in different parts of the world. Here’s our version. PS, we love K-drama.” Directed by Bilawal Hussain Abbassi and produced by Malkani Films, the video is full of emotions ranging from love, heartbreak, drama and loss.

However, while the music video is a visual treat, the soothing and relaxing song does not align with the fiery energy in the video. There’s a lot happening from the fight to the risks to Zaman regaining her eyesight. And while the deep lyrics struggle to hold it with promise, the audio-visual amalgamation just doesn’t seem to tie up.
