The Sindh High Court on the petition of the Qayyumabad Flyover victims, made the objections raised by the Advocate General, part of the record.
The Sindh Advocate General, while arguing, made a big revelation during the hearing of the petition. Sindh AG Salman Talib Uddin contended that claims of compensation for land worth billions of rupees turned out to be fake.
These lands of Qayyumabad were given at low price and were cancelled in 2001. A deadline was given for additional deposit, but no deposit was made. Upon the announcement of the project, the petitioners colluded and deposited the amount in 2005.
The court made the objections of the Sindh government part of the record. The court adjourned the hearing indefinitely due to the absence of the petitioner's counsel.
The victim had filed a contempt of court petition against Sindh Chief Secretary, Karachi Commissioner and KDA DG in which it was argued that the project of 'Construction Karachi' was started during the Pervez Musharraf regime. The Sindh government paid compensation to the other victims.
At the last hearing, Advocate General Sindh had argued that the total cost of the Karachi project was Rs29 billion. Civil Aviation, State Bank, Export Bureau and others had to pay the amount. The project worth Rs4 billion was planned by KPT, PSO and SBP. This was the project of the federal government, not the provincial government. Revelations came to light in the research by the Sindh chief secretary on the construction of Karachi project.
