A young woman dancer was killed allegedly by her friend.
According to police report, the victim, a resident of Mehendi Mohalla in Mansoorabad, had had a friendship with one Farman Shah alias Kale Shah.
Police said that Farman Shah allegedly visited the victim’s house at 10 pm on Sunday, forced her into his car at gunpoint and drove her to his house in Mohalla Shamsabad on Jhumra Road.
There a quarrel took place between the two, after which Farman Shah allegedly killed the woman and dumped her body near Jhumra Road, Jandanwala Gate.
A passerby spotted the body and informed the police about it.
A team of Jhumra police arrived on Jhumra Road, collected the body and shifted it to a hospital for postmortem.
The victim was identified by a mobile phone found near her body which helped the police contact the victim’s brother, Raza Masih.
They also began a search for the accused.
Several incidents of murder of women were reported from across the province last year.
A woman was strangled allegedly by her husband and brother in the name of honour in Khurrianwala in March last year.
According to the police report, the 26-year-old victim, a resident of Chak No 534GB, had been married to Ali Raza eight years ago.
The couple had three children.
On the day of the incident, Ali Raza, while going on a business trip with his brother-in-law, Khadim Hussain, allegedly saw his wife with a man named Fazal, a resident of the village.
Ali developed suspicions over his wife’s character after which he and Khadim grabbed the woman, wrapped a headscarf and a rope around her neck and strangled her.
The alleged murderers managed to escape.
Jaranwala police recovered the body of the deceased and handed it over to her mother after the postmortem.
The police also registered a case against Ali Raza and Khadim Hussain and started raids to arrest the fugitives.
A woman had been murdered allegedly by her father in Shalimar area of Lahore in February last year over suspicion of her being in a relationship with a man.
The woman was a mother of six and had recently started living in a separate house with her children following divorce from her husband.
Her father, identified as Akram, suspected his daughter of being in a relationship with a man.
On seeing the two together, apparently inside his daughter’s house, the father opened fire, killing his daughter on the spot and injuring the man.
Also in February last year, a man killed his wife with an axe in Khurrianwala. Reportedly, he killed her out of resentment for not having children.
He then dismembered her body and dumped it into a watercourse.
The murderer himself staged a drama of kidnapping of his wife and reached the police station with a complaint of her abduction.
The victim, 30, had been married seven years ago.
On the day of the incident, her husband allegedly took her to Saim watercourse where he killed her with an axe. He then cut her body into pieces.
On February 2 last year, a man stabbed his wife to death with a cleaver in Khurrianwala.
Reportedly, the 36-year-old victim was married to Falak Sher, a resident of Chak No 459GB, 16 years ago.
The suspect, Falak, had developed suspicions on his wife's character.
