KARACHI/LAHORE:

PPP leader Aitzaz Ahsan on Wednesday maintained that PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz led in terms of peddling “fake news”.

He said Maryam had claimed to have evidence to prove the innocence of her father, former premier Nawaz Sharif, but he never saw them produce it before the relevant courts.

He added that the PML-N leader had claimed that she had an audiotape of former chief justice Saqib Nisar as well as videos of the late judge Arshad Malik, but she never presented them before any court.

“Why these proofs were not produced anywhere if they were authentic?” he added.

He claimed that the constituent parties of the opposition alliance, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), were not sincere with each other.

However, his party head, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has levelled the same allegation on Prime Minister Imran Khan, claiming “[Imran] Khan sahib himself is the biggest leader of the fake news mafia in Pakistan.”

According to a statement issued from the Bilawal House, the PPP leader termed the promulgation of ‘controversial ordinances a "failed attempt by PM Imran to cover up his incompetence and crimes".
