For the past six weeks, the star-studded Sang-e-Mah has slowly introduced characters, dropping hints at the long-time rivalry between them while also addressing their key theme, the practice of Ghag. Until now, the storyline was not clear as to why Hilmand is arrogant and detached from the world to why Zarghuna stands tall on her own fighting her blood relatives.

The seventh episode began with Sheherzaad (Kubra Khan) digging deeper into Haji Marjaan’s (Naumaan Ijaz) disputed relationship with his stepson, Hilmand (Atif Aslam). In a conversation with Zarsanga (Samiya Mumtaz), it is revealed how the two shared the closest father-son relationship until two years ago. Clueless, Zarsanga didn't reveal much about what went wrong but Hilmand called him ‘dishonest’ and Mastaan Singh’s (Omair Rana) background story hinted at a wrong decision by Haji.
Apart from backstories and flashbacks to detangle the complicated rivalry, the episode also showed a heartbroken Gul Meena (Hania Aamir), who was earlier Ghag-ed by Hilmand (motive yet to be revealed), mourns her short-lived romance with Hikmat (Zaviyar Ejaz). Speaking to her mother, she declares their pain to be mutual; where the two of them had their soulmates killed.
If you connect the dots, it's probable that Mastaan Singh killed Zarghuna’s soulmate and while deciding their fate in Jirgah, Haji Marjaan failed to give justice to Zarghuna (Sania Saeed). Hilmand must’ve found out where his step-father lacked to honour justice and turned his way away from him then. There's still so much to unpack - but the story unfolded itself in predictable ways after this.
Another highlight of the episode was Sheherzaad’s traumatic childhood. What a comforting scene to have her share her deepest secrets with Zarsanga while they talk about Hilmand’s dark personality. With an emotionally taxing episode, fans were shaken, failing to absorb the revelations in the latest episode.
