Special cleanliness drive in full swing

A control room has also been set up at the commissioner office

RAWALPINDI:

The special cleanliness campaign titled ‘Maah-e Safai’ is in full swing in Rawalpindi city. During the drive, besides carrying out cleanliness, faulty street lights were repaired and 200 open manhole covers mended.

According to a spokesperson for the Rawalpindi commissioner office, the authorities concerned have been directed to cover all open manholes on a priority basis, remove wall chalking, posters and stickers from all government buildings and offices within two weeks

He said that the commissioner would also visit different offices to check the implementation of the orders. The commissioner has urged the citizens to come forward and play a role to make the campaign a success. He said that the campaign could not be successful without the participation and cooperation of the citizens.

A control room has also been set up at the commissioner office and the local government director has been appointed as a focal person.

An awareness campaign has also been launched to make the people aware of the importance of cleanliness and encourage them to keep their environment clean, he said and added that the authorities concerned were also directed to install dustbins at different points to facilitate the citizens.
