American supermodel of Dutch-Palestinian descent Bella Hadid has on many occasions stood up against Israeli authorities and their atrocities against Palestinians. Triggered by a viral post stating that the Tinder Swindler, an alleged conman, served less prison time than most Palestinian children do, the 25-year-old model took to her Instagram stories to post the thread and shared a much-needed rant, calling the “abuse of power” as “disgusting.”
According to the news agency AJ Plus, The Israeli man known as the Tinder Swindler spent just five months in prison despite being sentenced to 15. However, Palestinian children can spend years in prison, often without being convicted in court. The publication shared facts exposing the blatant breach of Palestinian human rights by Israelis and captioned the post, “Israel is the only country in the world that routinely tries children in military courts — a system that had a 95% conviction rate for Palestinian defendants.”
Hadid, a staunch supporter of human rights and the free Palestine movement, added, “Make it make sense.”
One of the slides in the thread stated that “the most common charge brought against Palestinian children is stone throwing, which has a maximum sentence of 20 years. Ridiculed by the discriminatory ‘justice’ policies, the raged supermodel reiterated the charge and wrote, “Stones!!” in disbelief.
She further added, “Imagine if your child threw stones at a military officer that has been harrassing you and your family for days, months and years. And in return, being violently thrown in prison without no court date or proceeding.”
Hadid called the irrational justice system “an abuse of power” and said “it’s disgusting.”
Highlighting a violation of the Geneva Convention, the publication shared that Israel’s military courts treats Palestinian children as “guilty until proven innocent.” Speaking up against the hypocritical model, Hadid shared, “Israel’s breaking laws left and right and somehow I still see people trying to defend the fact that children are being abused, killed, raided, imprisoned and taken from their families by IDF soldiers on a regular basis.”
Throwing legitimate questions to the Israeli defendants, she added, “Out of curiosity, did these small children hurt the ego of a soldier with a gun? Did that child intimidate you? Did they make you feel unsafe? Did they make you afraid for your life? Or were they just Palestinians?”
Sharing the news articles writing about viral videos of Israeli soldiers beating and scuffling Palestinian residents, the supermodel pointed out how such displays of graphic violence “shouldn’t go viral” but instead reach “the government and the criminal justice system to show the heinous and unlawful abuse that the people who are supposed to ‘protect’ have been and will continue to do the Palestinian people living in their birthplace.”
Pointing out the hatred and xenophobia, she said these people inflict violence “just because they feel like it.”
Leaving a final concluding message for her followers, Hadid shared a snippet of a clip where a Palestinian man is being tortured and wrote, “If you can watch this and feel okay about the IDF, what they do on a regular basis or make any kind of excuse for this behaviour, I kindly ask you to unfollow me immediately.”
Earlier last year, Hadid was called out for trying to “eliminate the Jewish population” by the State of Israel’s official account after she joined a crowd of protesters in New York, who took to the streets of Bay Ridge for a demonstration in support of Palestine.
The outspoken fashion plate — whose wealthy father, Mohamed Hadid, is from Palestine — was wearing a traditional dress, a keffiyeh, a face mask and waving a large Palestinian flag as she marched along with thousands of others.
