Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced direct flights from Karachi and Lahore to Azerbaijan’s capital and commercial centre Baku.
According to details available with The Express Tribune, the state airline will operate two direct flights per week; one from Karachi and one from Lahore.
The first flight would depart from Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport on March 16 and the other would leave Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport on March 19.
The national flag carrier has announced these flights over the longstanding demand of citizens of both countries, besides Pakistanis residing in the Azeri capital.
This move will enable Pakistanis to travel to the popular tourist destination directly from Karachi and Lahore.
PIA Chief Executive Officer Air Marshal Arshad Malik, while congratulating the state airline’s officials on finalising the flight arrangements, said that there are plans to add more locations to the national flag carrier’s network.
He also directed the airline’s sectors to provide the best services to passengers.
