Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed condolence to the family of veteran journalist Ghulam Akbar, saying he was a man of "strong convictions and principles".
"Saddened to learn of the passing of Ghulam Akbar, a media veteran who was a man of strong convictions and principles," Premier Imran wrote on a Twitter post on Thursday.
Condoling with the bereaved family, the prime minister said: "My condolences and prayers go to his family."

Other federal ministers also took to Twitter to condole the demise of the media veteran. Paying tributes, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said the journalist enjoyed a distinct place in journalism.
Fawad recalled that the readers always wait for the journalist's column "Aaj Ki Baat in Al-akhbar."
The minister prayed for the departed soul as well as for his family to bear this irreparable loss.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib, said late Akbar was a capable and impartial journalist and recalled his services for the promotion of the democratic norms.
