Buzdar pledges justice in lynching case

Police submit initial report about investigation, arrests

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has issued directives to fulfill all the requirements of justice in the Tulamba lynching case, vowing that no one will be allowed to take the law into his own hands. Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan submitted the initial inquiry report about the incident in which a man was killed by a mob in Khanewal district.

The chief minister was informed that 33 suspects had been nominated in the case along with 300 unidentified people. The case has been registered under sections of heinous crimes and terrorism. The police conducted more than 120 raids and took into custody 62 suspects. Some of the prime suspects are among those arrested. The CM was informed that the suspects would be identified and their involvement in the incident ascertained with the help of forensic analysis of the available video footage. Police teams were conducting raids to arrest the remaining suspects.

The police said secret operations of local teams continued the whole night and senior officers also remained in the field. Chief Minister Buzdar also took notice of an incident of molestation and murder of a woman, and sought a report in this regard from the regional police officer (RPO) of Faisalabad. The CM ordered stern legal action against the killers and provision of justice to the affected family. The police arrested the prime suspect and registered a case against him.

Meanwhile, funds amounting to Rs3.45 million have been allocated on instructions of the chief minister for the treatment of six deserving patients of thalassaemia, cochlear implant, kidney disease and brain hemorrhage. The patients belonging to Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Mian Chunnu and Karor Lal Esan are under treatment in Children Hospitals in Multan and Lahore, the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI), Bahawal Victoria Hospital and Punjab Institute of Neurosciences.

The chief minister also asserted in a statement that that the opposition had floated a stunt of a no-confidence motion after threatening resignations and long march, but such elements could neither bring a vote of no confidence nor tender resignations from assemblies.
