ISLAMABAD:

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday took notice of the unaddressed complaints received on the Pakistan Citizen Portal (PCP) last year, directing the officials concerned to review them.

According to a letter from the Prime Minister Office (PMO), a total of 1.5 million complaints were received on the PCP in 2021, however, a set of 238,098 complaints were earmarked for reopening on

the basis of negative public feedback.
These complaints were closed as “relief granted” but the citizens denied getting any relief. The PMO said the situation required to be ascertained as to how relief was denied or whether it was granted in the first place.

The chief secretaries and the inspectors general of police concerned would oversee the review process at the provincial level, while at the federal level, secretaries of the ministries concerned would be responsible for the review of the complaints.

The statement added that these complaints pertain to municipal services, electricity, gas, communications and education. The officers concerned would submit their reports following review of the complaints, the PMO statement added.

“Purpose of the review should not be to merely increase positive feedback rather the actual disposal of issues/complaints,” the PMO said. “Responsibility, in the case of each organisation/department, shall be entrusted to a senior officer to supervise the review activity at all levels,” it added.

Of the total complaints that are to be reopened, around 107,000 complaints are related to the federal departments, while at the provincial level, 80,000 complaints are related to Punjab, 27,000 to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 15,000 to Sindh, 3,000 to Balochistan, 1,100 to Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 400 to Gilgit-Baltistan.
