Senate informed about pay, perks of SBP chief
The Finance Ministry has submitted details of the pay and perks of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Reza Baqir in the Senate in response to a question from Senator Irfan Siddiqui of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N).
According to the ministry’s written reply, the SBP governor receives a monthly salary of Rs 2.5 million with 10% annual increment, besides a furnished house or equivalent rent along with maintenance.
Baqir has been provided two vehicles, along with drivers and 600 litres of petrol. He is also provided electricity, gas, water and generator expenses, besides 75% of the tuition fees for his children. The SBP governor gets free landline and mobile phones and internet.
According to the Finance Ministry, the governor SBP can have four employees, each having a salary of Rs18,000 per month. He gets 24-hour security and security guards and medical facility. The governor is entitled to three days off every month.
His gratuity amounts to one month’s salary. He is provided air tickets and baggage transfer facility for family. The SBP governor also has also been given the monthly charges of the club.
