A youngster was shot dead by some assailants for pursuing the murder case of his uncle as a complainant.
The murder took place in Basti Gajja at Muzaffargarh-Multan Road on Thursday.
According to police sources, the vice chief of the Jamaat-e-Islami for Tehsil Muzaffargarh, Maulana Mushtaq Ahmed, had been assassinated last week.
The police had registered a case against the assassins on the complaint of the Maulana’s nephew, Faisal Mubeen.
The young Faisal Mubeen was returning home on motorcycle after presenting himself in the court on Thursday when assailants shot him dead.
Rescue 1122 and police reached the spot and shifted the body to the District Headquarters Hospital Muzaffargah from where the body was handed over to the heirs after autopsy, police sources added.
The Inspector-General of Police, Rao Sardar Ali Khan, took notice of the incident and directed the Regional Police Officer of Dera Ghani Khan, Waqas Nazir, to send a comprehensive report to his office at the earliest.
On the other hand, the crime scene unit and police forensic team collected the evidences from the crime scene, and a case had been registered against the criminals, police sources added.

In November last year, four members of a family, including two children, had been gunned down by unidentified motorcyclists in Shiekhupura district on Wednesday.
The victims, Shahnawaz, a resident of Batapur in Lahore, his wife, Zainab Awan, and their two daughters had been travelling in a car that was attacked by armed men.
As a result of the firing, the couple sitting in the front seats and the young girls in the back seats had died on the spot.
According to eye-witness accounts, unidentified motorcyclists intercepted the family and opened fire on them.
