Rawalpindi Commissioner Noorul Amin Mengal, who is also the Director General (DG) of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), has issued directives for the immediate initiation of work on the Ring Road and Kachehri Chowk projects.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Commissioner, in which RDA Chief Engineer Dr Habibul Haq Randhawa, Finance Department Lahore, P&D Department, Housing Department officers, and others participated.
The two projects were discussed in the meeting, with Mengal insisting that the two mega projects be delegated to a reputed company, for which immediate steps should be taken in accordance with rules and regulations.
He said that the project of Kachehri Chowk has been approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) and will cost Rs4.7 billion. “This will be the first project of its kind in the country,” said the Commissioner.
The RDA DG added that the design work of Kachehri Chowk has been completed, with the shifting of service and the tendering process to be started soon.
Mengal further said that the plan for construction of Rawalpindi Ring Road-R3 has also been approved, which will stretch from Banth (N-5) to Thalian (M-2) and will cost Rs23.606 billion and its length will be 38.3km.
