114 more people test positive for disease in Rawalpindi district

RAWALPINDI/ ISLAMABAD:

About six persons died of coronavirus in Rawalpindi during the last 24 hours.

Additionally, 114 more people tested positive for the disease, raising the tally of confirmed cases to 45,062 in the Rawalpindi district.

As per the latest data released by the District Health Authority on Saturday, out of the new patients, 42 came from Rawalpindi Cantonment, 33 from Potohar Town, 22 from Rawal Towm, 17 from Kallar Syedan, 14 from Gujjar Khan, six from Taxila and Kotli Sattian and one from Chakwal.

“Presently, 117 patients are admitted to eight health facilities, including 53 in the Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and Transplantation (RIUT), 45 in the Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH), eight in the Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), four each in the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) and District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital and one each in the Bilal in Attock and Hearts International Hospital,” the report revealed.

The report also updated that five patients were on ventilators, out of which 41 were stable and 71 were on double oxygen support.

The District Health Authority (DHA) added that 2,299 patients were quarantined, including 2,233 at home and 66 in isolation centres.

In addition, the report updated that during the last 24 hours, 1,509 samples were collected, out of which 1,395 were declared negative. The positivity rate was recorded at 7.55 per cent in the district.

School sealed in capital

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration on Saturday sealed another private school at sector G-15 after a sharp increase in the number of Covid-19 cases among the students.

Magistrate Saddar Zone Mir Yamin sealed the premises of Beaconhouse School G-15/3 to prevent the community spread of the virus. Talking to the media, he said the virus was traced among three students aged between 12 to 15.

The ICT administration teams were closely monitoring the situation to contain further spread of the virus, he added.
