MURREE:

As light snowfall starts in Murree, the Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP), the district administration and several other relevant agencies have been put on high alert.

The CTP also issued an advisory for tourists on the same day. These precautionary measures aim to avert any emergency situation.

Because the change in weather occurred on a working day, the number of travellers has been slightly low in comparison to the holiday season. Nonetheless, more than 1,700 vehicles were recorded entering Murree on Wednesday evening.

Earlier, the MET Department had forecast snowfall from Wednesday night to Thursday in Murree. In view of the expected snowfall, the CTP has deployed additional personnel to provide facilities to tourists and to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.

Traffic police personnel were deployed with heavy machinery to clear snow from the road. Rawalpindi Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Wasim Riaz said that in light of the orders of the district administration, 8,000 tourist vehicles were allowed into Murree.

Awareness and precautionary pamphlets were also being distributed to tourists at the entrances to Murree by the CTP for their facilitation.
