QUETTA:

A soldier embraced martyrdom, while four terrorists were killed during intense exchanges of fire, as security forces repulsed attempts to attack their camps in Panjgur and Naushki areas of Balochistan on Wednesday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The ISPR said that heavy casualties were inflicted upon terrorists. “Terrorists attempted to attack security forces camps at two locations, Panjgur and Naushki, in Balochistan late evening today,” it said. “Both attacks have been successfully repulsed while inflicting heavy casualties on terrorists,” it added.

The ISPR said that terrorists tried to enter security forces’ camp from two locations in Panjgur. However, timely response by troops foiled their attempt. During intense exchange of fire, the ISPR added, one soldier was martyred. It also said that terrorists fled, while their casualties were being ascertained.

In Naushki, terrorists attempted to enter an FC camp which was promptly responded and four terrorists were killed. “One Off[ice]r has been injured during the shootout. Intermittent firing continuing. Further details to follow,” the statement concluded.

The attacks were the latest in a string of terrorist acts seen in recent weeks in the province. Last week, the ISPR had said that terrorists attacked a check post in the Kech district of the province in which 10 soldiers were martyred.

According to the ISPR, the “fire raid” by terrorists in Kech occurred in the night between January 25 and 26. It said that the forces repulsed the attack and “during intense exchange of fire” one terrorist was also killed and several others injured.

Two days later, a member of the paramilitary Balochistan Levies Force and three men from a pro-government tribal militia, commonly known as Levies Forces, were martyred when their vehicle hit a landmine in the Mat area of Sui in Dera Bugti district, officials had said.

A senior government official had said the men were hunting thieves in the area when their vehicle drove over the landmine. The official added that 10 others were injured in the incident. Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo identified the deceased as members of the local Aman Force.

In separate firing incidents, also on last Friday, at least six people were killed in Chagai district and Quetta. Rescue officials said that four people were killed while several others sustained injuries during the firing incident in Quetta, while two others died in shooting in Dalbandin.

On Sunday, at least 16 people, including two policemen, were injured in a hand grenade explosion in Sohbatpur Chowk near Dera Allahyar in the Jaffarabad district. Police had said that they were investigating the case to ascertain whether it was terrorist attack or a case of personal enmity.

Aziz | 2 years ago | Reply For our martyrs Innalillahay wainnaelahay rajaoon May they be Forgiven by Allah. As for strategy for dealing with TTP our strategy still seems to be responsive rather than proactively offensive given the Declaration of war by TTP against Pakistan where our security personnel would actually plan to go and root out TTP bases in Pakistan Afghanistan Iran and India rather than wait to let TTP plan their attacks on our security checkpoints as it happened in panjgur and nushki and then respond. We must not forget that this menace of TTP Is at all out war with us so we have develop a mindset of proactively seek out and root out the origins of TTP with strategic planning and brave and bold operations. Ameen.
