Family protests death of levies man in Kachi
Family members and residents on Thursday staged a sit-in outside the local police station along with the coffin of the slain levies man against lawlessness and non-availability of facilities at the civil hospitals in Kachi district of Balochistan.
Talking to The Express Tribune an official said that Nawab Khan, a levies officer, was shot when he tried to arrest a robber who snatched a motorbike at gunpoint in Gamb Qazi area of Kachi district.
He was rushed to Sibi for treatment in badly injured condition but succumbed to his injuries due to the alleged non-availability of proper treatment facilities at the hospital.
A large number of local residents gathered when the news of his death spread who demanded arrest of robbers responsible for the death of the levies man and action against the hospital administration.
They staged a sit-in to press for their demands along with the coffin of the slain man.

DC Kachhi district Shafqat met the protesting mob and assured them that investigation in the case was underway.
The participants of the sit-in also charged that there was complete lawlessness in the district and armed robberies were a matter of routine because armed bandits had made the district hostage.
“Bandits have been challenging the government writ but the administration has completely failed to control them while the civil hospital lacks medicines and doctors,” they blamed.
Later DC Kachi Shafqat Anwar Shahwani negotiated with the protestors and persuaded them to bury the dead body of the slain official and end their protest.
