Report sought on ‘irregularities’ in promotions

Punjab Education Ministry directs District Education Authorities to submit report within seven days

The Ministry of Education Punjab has taken serious notice of complaints of irregularities in the promotions of teachers under the 50% departmental quota across the province.

On the direction of the provincial education secretary, Director Public Instruction (DPI) Rana Abdul Qayyum had written letters to the chief executive officers of the District Education Authorities in all 36 districts across the province to seek details of these promotions.

They have been directed to submit the complete record to the DPI office within seven days.

There has been a large number of complaints of irregularities in the promotions of primary teachers (PST) to middle-class teachers (EST) and EST to SST (secondary class teachers) under the departmental quota.

The DPI has asked the district education officers to submit complete data of the meetings of all the departmental promotion committees, their minutes, lists of teachers to be considered for promotions, approved and the cases to be deferred.
