MUZAFFARGARH:

Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) Muzaffargarh Superintending Engineer Malik Muhammad Yousuf urged people to stay away from electric installations during the rainy season for their safety.

The official said in a statement issued on Saturday that people in rural as well as urban areas should avoid standing under the power transformers and wires.

He also cautioned the residents not to park their vehicles at such spots.

He said the citizens should avoid staying near electric poles, or touching them or any other installation. People must avoid using metal wires to dry clothes and should not touch any switch, wire or appliances with wet hands or shoes.

Engineer Muhammad Yousuf said that construction, setting up stalls or handcarts under high-voltage wire conductors was not only illegal but also posed a threat to the life of the people.

He asked people to convey information regarding any emergency to the division or sub division staff concerned of MEPCO and its customer service complaint centres.
