Ministry says 624,000 nationals flew to Saudi Arabia for employment in three years

The Senate was informed that more than 1.139 million Pakistanis had gone abroad for employment during the three-year rule of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

According to a report presented by the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, 624,000 Pakistanis went to Saudi Arabia for employment.

Those who went abroad for employment included 452,000 laborers, 347,000 drivers, 34,000 technicians, 33,000 mechanics, 27,000 electricians, 21,000 carpenters, 13,000 cooks and others.

A total of 292,000 Pakistanis are in the United Arab Emirates, 77,000 in Oman, 64,000 in Qatar, 29,000 in Bahrain, 13,000 in Malaysia, 6,000 in Iraq, 2,000 in China, 2,000 in the UK and more than 1,000 in the USA.

According to the overseas ministry, Pakistani citizens have gone to Turkey, Syria, Sweden, Spain, Germany, Iran, Italy, Lebanon, Libya, Kenya, Jordan, Kuwait, South Korea, Japan and other countries for employment under the incumbent government.

Job seekers include doctors, nurses, teachers, managers, welders, engineers, operators and others, it added.
