Two terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Thal area of North Waziristan district, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the military said on Tuesday.
"Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation on the reported presence of terrorists," the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement issued this evening.
"During intense exchange of fire, two terrorists, Ghayoor and Bahauddin got killed," it added. "A large number of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the terrorists."

The military's media wing further said that the killed terrorists were involved in terrorist activities against security forces, target killing and kidnappings for ransom.
Last week, security forces had killed one terrorist and apprehended two others during an intelligence-based operation in Miranshah, North Waziristan.

In a separate operation on the same day in Bannu district, an army soldier embraced martyrdom during an exchange of fire with the terrorists in Jani Khel area.
On December 31, 2021, at least four soldiers were martyred and one terrorist was arrested during an IBO in North Waziristan.
Late last month, the Pakistan Army termed the country’s first-ever National Security Policy “important milestone” in meeting emerging challenges in evolving global environment.
