RAWALPINDI:

The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi has formally approved projects for the installation of 10 new tube wells, five filtration plants, construction of three overhead and three underground water tanks and laying of new water pipelines in 15 union councils.

These projects will cost a total of Rs870 million. These projects will be completed in 90 days. Work on all these projects will begin next week.

Installation of new tube wells has been completed in 2 union councils. Water supply from all-new tube wells will also start from next summer.

All these projects fall in the NA-60 constituency and the NA-62, from where Federal Parliamentary Secretary Sheikh Rashid Shafiq and Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid have been elected respectively.

These water supply projects have been approved under the annual development programme.

Sheikh Rashid Shafiq said that with the completion of these projects, the water problem in the city would be solved permanently. He said that new water pipelines were also being laid, which will help overcome water leakage.
