Restoration: Team goes to survey Naukot Fort

KARACHI: A team of the Endowment Fund Trust (EFT) left for Naukot on Wednesday in response to the media reports regarding damage to the Naukot Fort. The team is led by Mohanlal Ochani, project director of the EFT and a civil engineer. He was also the director of the defunct archaeology department of the government of Pakistan. According to Ochani, the Naukot Fort has drainage outlets which might be choked up or closed leading to the accumulation of water in the premises. The team’s report will be submitted to the government of Sindh. The EFT was set up for the preservation of historical and cultural monuments with the financial support from the Sindh government.

The fund supported the restoration of Mir monuments in Hyderabad and Khairpur, conservation of Thatta habitat, refurbishment of the Open Air Crafts Museum at Hyderabad, a six-month conservation course at Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai University and an international workshop on conservation in Khairpur.
