Work on two hospitals to finish by June 30

'Medicines will be free in the OPD and emergency departments'

RAWALPINDI:

The construction of two new state-of-art mini hospitals at two entrances of Rawalpindi district, near Chakri Road and Rawat, will be completed by June 30.

The 60-bed Chakri Road Hospital will have an estimated construction cost of Rs500 million on 93 kanals of land while the estimated cost of the 100-bed Pothohar Hospital near Rawat will be Rs700 million.

According to the officials concerned, 95% of the work on Pothohar Hospital has already been completed.

Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan told the Express Tribune that these hospitals are being built on the two major entrances to Rawalpindi, which will reduce the burden of patients in the city.

“Both hospitals are close to GT Road and Motorway; therefore the injured can be quickly rushed to nearby hospitals,” he said.

The Outpatient Departments (OPDs) of both hospitals will have state-of-the-art with facilities to treat all types of cases, except for those involving snake and dog bites, he added.

“All medicines will be free in the OPD and the emergency section of the hospitals,” he said.

“Life-saving drugs, modern machinery, and oxygen will be available in emergency wards besides state-of-the-art operation theaters in both the hospitals,” he added.

“There will be four Operation Theatres (OTs).
