Cases of sore throat, cold, flu and cough have increased with the onset of winter.
Medical experts have said that precautionary measures should be taken to protect against these ailments in the cold weather. These diseases can turn serious if not properly cared for, they advised.
The number of patients coming to various hospitals with symptoms of cold, flu, cough and sore throat has increased manifold as the weather in the city takes a turn for the chillier.
Children and adults of all ages are affected. Medical experts have advised the public to take precautions and avoid fried, sour, greasy, and cold foods. They urge locals to stop drinking chilled water, dress warmly and protect the elderly from the cold.

JPMC ENT Department had Dr Muhammad Razzaq Dogar said there has been an increase in the number of flu patients due to the intensity of cold weather.
“Climate change usually means more patients because they are not careful and eat all kinds of cold and sour food,” he said. “They run air conditioners and fans even though direct from the latter harms the human during the cold.”
