Army's top commanders on Tuesday discussed the security situation of the country with particular focus on border management and internal security, the military said.

"246th Corps Commanders’ Conference was held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi today," the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. It added that army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa presided over the conference.

According to the statement, the forum "took a comprehensive review of the security situation with particular focus on border management and internal security".

"The participants were apprised about the progress and achievements of Operation Radd-ul-Fassad in detail," the military's media wing said.

According to the ISPR, the chief of army staff (COAS) appreciated the efforts of formations involved in relief operations to mitigate the challenges of people affected due to snowstorm in Murree and heavy rainfalls in Balochistan.

"Expressing satisfaction over the operational preparedness of the formations, Gen Qamar emphasised continued mission-oriented training to ensure combat readiness in the face of emerging threats and challenges," the statement concluded.

Late last month, the Pakistan Army termed the country’s first-ever National Security Policy “important milestone” in meeting emerging challenges in evolving global environment.

“The NSP is an important milestone in strengthening National Security of Pakistan. The comprehensive framework, recognises interlinkages between various strands of national security, imperative to meet emerging challenges in evolving global environment through a whole of government effort,” military's spokesperson Major General Babar Iftikhar had stated in a tweet.

The statement came hours after the federal cabinet approved Pakistan’s first-ever NSP 2022-2026, which aims at bolstering the country’s economic security and tackling external and internal challenges.
