Quetta Metropolitan Corporation Administrator Shaukat Ali on Monday vowed to keep Quetta clean, saying stern action would be taken against those officials who are found negligent in their duties.
Addressing a khuli katcheri (open meeting) here, the administrator noted that the provincial capital was their home and the modern machinery would be brought into use to maintain tidiness in the city.
"All positive steps will be taken to address the grievances of people. Staff should perform their duty including the cleaning [the city] with the use of latest machinery," Ali said.
The residents of the city while informing the top official about their problems complained about blockage of rainwater in drains and the issue of street lights.
He directed the authorities concerned to take immediate action on people’s grievances and address them on priority basis.
“The purpose of open court is to solve the problems of people under one roof. Open court will be held every Wednesday,” he said.
“No compromise will be made on the sanitation in the city and all available resources will be utilised for the purpose,” he added.
"As cleanliness is half faith, the metropolitan corporation is working on a daily basis for cleaning Quetta in the morning and evening shifts, which are yielding good results." The administrator remarked that sanitation in the city was not possible without people’s cooperation.
“People from all schools of thought including businessmen and others should cooperate with the metropolitan administration.”
