Sindh High CourtJustice Arshad Hussain Khan on Monday referred the matter to Chief Justice Sindh High Court at the request of lawyers against commercial activities in DHA and cantonments.
A hearing in this regard was held before Justice Arshad Hussain Khan.
Counsel for the petitioners contended that the previous one-member bench had completed the partial hearing of the case. The lawyers requested that the case may be returned to the same bench for hearing.
At the request of lawyers, Justice Arshad Hussain Khan referred the matter to Chief Justice Sindh High Court. Earlier, Justice Zulfiqar Ahmed had heard the case. The court upheld the order restraining commercial use of the land acquired for defence purposes and adjourned the hearing indefinitely.
The petition had argued that reclaiming land was destroying the natural environment and ecosystem. Acquiring land by pushing the sea back causes climate change. The climate change is causing sea levels to rise worldwide. Influencing the marine environment has endangered the aquatic life. KPT lands are being sold at low prices.
