Marigolds bring colour to overcast Karachi

Show featuring the yellow flower draws crowds at Frere Hall

KARACHI:

Battered by days of rain and chilly weather, Karachiites stepped out on Friday to enjoy a blast of yellow at the annual marigold flower show hosted by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on the sprawling lawns of city's British era icon, the Frere Hall.

"Today, the Frere Hall is adorned with winter bloom of marigold and now these beautiful flowers are the identity of Karachi," Karachi Administrator Murtaza Wahab said adding that an era of peace and development has started in the metropolis which was once plagued by ethnic and gang war violence.

People of Karachi are now looking at a new option for local government as they can see the work done by the Pakistan Peoples Party, Wahab said opening the flower show with a political speech.
