RDA issues list of illegal housing societies

275 illegal, 68 fake housing societies exist in Rawalpindi

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has issued a list of fake and illegal housing societies in its jurisdiction.

According to the RDA's list, 275 housing societies and 68 fake societies in Rawalpindi.

The RDA has informed overseas Pakistanis and local investors about investing in fake and illegal housing societies.

RDA officials said that lists of fake and illegal housing societies have been issued so that the valuable capital of the citizens can be protected.

According to the RDA officials, 68 fake housing societies exist in different parts of the Chakri while 275 illegal housing societies exist in Kotli Sattian, Taxila, Jando, Fateh Jhang Road, Jalala, Niko, Wani, Paswal, Bajjar, Katia, Jhal Yari, New Murree, Patriata, Jhika Gali, Baroha, Manga, Angori, Nimbal, Khatar, Ghora Gali, Masyari Expressway, Chattar, Charlot, Salgaran, Salkhitar, Dahagal, Kak, Chaklala, Kalial, Pind Nasrullah, Chak Bailey, Garja, Adiala, Jodia and other areas.

RDA officials said a plan for a grand operation against illegal and fake housing societies had been devised.

They said that cases will be registered against the owners of fake and illegal housing societies in collaboration with the local police. The affected citizens will be contacted, and their looted money will be returned.

The Punjab government has banned the issuance of no-objection certificates (NOCs) to all new housing societies to safeguard cultivable land from being occupied.

The RDA officials said that NOCs will not be issued to housing societies till the ban is lifted.

The officials said that the allottees of fake housing societies should immediately contact RDA to prepare a comprehensive case against the owners.

Last month, the provincial government had put Kahuta, Kalar Syedan, Kotli Satian, Murree, Taxila and Gujjar Khan tehsils under the administrative control of the Rawalpindi District Council, restricting the RDA jurisdiction to 64 settlements.
