NUML awards 356 degrees, 14 gold medals

National Assembly speaker chief guest at 16th convocation

The National University of Modern Languages (NUML) held its 16th convocation at the university premises on Saturday.

During the convocation, 356 students were conferred degrees and 14 gold medals were awarded to the graduates of different programmes.

National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, who was the chief guest of the ceremony, said that it was a matter of great pleasure for him to attend the 16th Convocation of NUML as a chief guest. He added that teachers could make a nation and bring revolution if they do their work with dedication and devotion. The speaker also emphasised that there were no shortcuts to success. He said the only way was to work hard to achieve success.

He further said that the students were the future of Pakistan, and that it was their responsibility to work for the country. The speaker told them to think big and put in their utmost effort to attain their goals. He further said that the country was facing economic issues. He added that the government was working hard to resolve all persisting issues to make Pakistan a prosperous and sovereign state.

NUML Rector Major General Muhammad Jaffar HI (M) (Retd) and NUML Director General Brig Syed Nadir Ali, along with the Registrar, Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, and a large number of students also attended the ceremony.

Earlier, the rector highlighted the achievements and contributions made by NUML in various fields of education - especially oriental and occidental languages. He added that the institute was one of the largest language universities in Asia. He said that NUML had 266 PhD qualified faculty members, out of which, 127 were in different phases to complete their degree.

The rector said that two more campuses were also being opened: one in Mirpur (AJK), the and other in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B). He assured that NUML would make every effort to facilitate its students.
