PHA to re-auction cafeterias at parks

Operational rights of eateries are valid for three years

LAHORE:

The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has decided to reauction canteens, cafeterias, restaurants and juice corners of different public parks in the provincial capital.

The official documents made available to The Express Tribune indicate that the authority floated tenders to auction operational rights of these eateries and other recreational facilities for three years (non-extendable).

It has fixed per annum reserve price of Rs2.28 million for Jillani Park Restaurant 5, Rs530,000 for Jillani Park canteen near Eden Centre, Jail Road and Rs770,000 for Shadman Market Park Canteen 4 near Gourmet Bakery.

Similarly, reserved price of Rs1 million has been fixed for Juice Corner at Faisal Town Kotha Pind Park and Rs4.77 million for Juice Corner at Allah Hoo Chowk, Johar Town. The authority has also floated tenders for canteens near Ghurdwara, Marri Ranjeet Singh Greater Iqbal Park for Rs2.83 million for food kiosk (canteen 4), Rs3.63 million for food kiosk (canteen 5), Rs2.93 million for food kiosk (canteen 6) and Rs4.04 million for food kiosk (canteen 7).

The authority has also floated tenders for auctioning rights of Greater Iqbal Park’s Soft Wheel Train against reserve price of Rs11.8 million and Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park Boating operations for Rs4.7 million per annum. The last date of submitting bids have been fixed on January 20, 2022.

The authority is expecting to generate estimated revenue of Rs50-70 million per annum by auctioning rights of aforementioned eateries and recreation facilities. All these canteens and eateries will be auctioned on rental which will be increased at rate of 10% per annum and will be payable bi-annually, fifteen days before start of next term.

All successful bidder will be bound to deposit advance rent of six months within seven days of issuance of acceptance letter otherwise their bid security will be confiscated.

The PHA will have the authority to supervise all the operations of lessee in connection with the lease and may impose suitable penalty on any violation which may include fine or closure of business.
