Azam Jamil appointed SAPM on 'tourism coordination'

His appointment will be in an honorary capacity, reads notification

ISLAMABAD:

Prime Minister Imran Khan has appointed Azam Jamil as his special assistant on tourism coordination with “immediate effect”.

According to an official notification issued on Friday night, his appointment will be in an “honorary capacity”.

With the latest appointment, the number of special assistants to the prime minister has reached 18 with 12 non-elected aides.

Last year, PM Imran had formed a National Coordination Committee on Tourism (NCCT) to help Pakistan become the “fastest-growing tourism destination”.

The committee was formed to raise the competitiveness of the tourism industry and maximise utilisation of Pakistan's natural, cultural, historical, archaeological, religious and geographical tourist assets.

The NCCT has also been formed for employment creation, poverty reduction, sustained economic growth, social inclusion, quality of life improvement, as per the official notification.

Some of the members of the committee included special assistant to the prime minister on overseas Pakistanis and human resource development, secretary of Ministry of Industries and Production and secretary of Ministry of Interior.
