Engr Naeem says black bill has unmasked feudal elements in political arena

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that the Dec 31 sitin protest to be held outside the Sindh Assembly will be a historical one and the Sindh government will have to withdraw the black bill aimed at squeezing the administrative and financial authorities of local governments in the province.

The JI leader expressed these views while addressing a protest demonstration in Karachi against the bill. A large number of people took to street against the bill in North Karachi area of the city.

The protestors, carrying placards and banners, chanted slogans against the PPP government and the black bill bulldozed in the provincial assembly by the ruling party. Addressing the protestors, the JI leader said that the bill has exposed the people who believe in feudalism and are intended to impose their agenda across the province. The JI will not let this happen, he added.

He further said that the bill was bulldozed in clear violation of the constitution's Article A 140. He further said that feudal lords in Sindh acquire majority in the assembly by suppressing poor masses. He said that the Save Karachi March on MA Jinnah road has proved that feudal lords are in a minority in Sindh. On the other hand, he said, the Karachi Rights Campaign has been gaining momentum.

Engr Naeem said that the government was trying to stir up differences between Sindhi and Urdu speakers in Karachi. The JI will not only fail the conspiracy but also unveiled those promoting the language-based politics, he said.

The JI leader said that some political parties in the city were opposing the black law only in drawing rooms. He also held the MQM and the PTI responsible for the miseries of Karachi.

He said that both the MQM and the PTI stabbed the cause for a prosperous Karachi by accepting flawed results of the census. He also raised questions on the Rs1100 billion package and asked about the green line project that was inaugurated but yet to be made fully functional.

He also highlighted that the last water supply project was made for the city in 2005 and since then no new project was launched to cater the need of 30 million people. The JI leader also talked about the differences between the decisions on Nasala Tower case and Hayat Rejency as well as Bani Gala case.
