JPMC surgeons remove iron rod from labourer’s head

It had pierced through the skull and come out at forehead near eye socket

Surgeons at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) have successfully removed an iron rod which had gone through the head of a young laborer who was working in an under-construction building in Landhi area of the city.

The young labourer was working in an under-construction building in Landhi when suddenly an iron rod fell on his head, penetrated his skull and came out of his forehead near his eyes.

He was rushed to the JPMC's emergency department. According to JPMC Deputy Director Dr Muhammad Salman, the injured man was brought to the hospital's emergency department at 5pm, where he was given medical aid and shifted to the Neurosurgery Operation Theater and after a successful operation, the iron rod was removed from his head.

He further said that the condition of the patient was stable after removal of the iron rod. However, the patient was having a blurred vision, for which ophthalmologists have been called in, who would examine it and treat it further.
