Civil society organisations have demanded of the government to form a high-level investigation team to recover the six-year-old girl, Adiba Mubarak, who went missing over a month ago.
Civil society organizations took out a protest rally for the recovery of Adiba Mubarak on Friday. The rally ended after going through different markets.
The rally was well attended by the people. A large number of dignitaries from the area, including political and social activists, were also present on the occasion.
Public and social circles have criticized the police's performance on non-recovery of the abducted girl and said that not seeking the help of sniffer dogs the day after the disappearance of the girl was a matter of professional negligence.
Social organisations demanded of the chief minister and the governor of Punjab to form a high level team consisting of senior officers for the recovery of Adiba.
The girl had stepped out of her house on November 22 after sunset to buy some boiled eggs after hearing the voice of a vendor.
When she did not return for a while, her father went outside and found the street deserted with no trace of his daughter.
The news about the girl’s disappearance spread all over the village, and almost everyone in the village joined the search for the girl.
Announcements about her disappearance were made from the mosques. Later, when the people failed to find her, the police station was informed about the incident. A police team immediately arrived on the scene.
Later, the DSP and the SHO also arrived on the scene. At night checkpoints were set up to monitor the entrance to and exits from the village.
A case of kidnapping was registered the following day on the complaint of the girl's father.
At the same time, the search continued everywhere possible and the scope of the investigation was extended.
Some suspects from other villages were also interrogated and arrests made. A reward of Rs100,000 was also announced. Sahiwal DPO Sadiq Hussain Baloch and SP Shahida Noreen met the parents of the abducted girl.
Muhammad Amin Ansari, father of Zainab, the martyred daughter of Kasur, accompanied by Muhammad Ali, president of Roshni Helpline, an organization in Karachi working for the recovery of missing children, visited the village to express solidarity with the victim's parents.
Talking to reporters during a meeting with the parents of Adiba, Muhammad Amin Ansari said, “We are working sincerely at the national level to search for the missing children".
He said that they had been visiting Adiba’s parents to express solidarity with them in their moments of distress.
Muhammad Amin Ansari said he could feel the pain and suffering of the sad and depressed parents. He said that Adiba Mubarak is the daughter of not only her parents but of the entire nation. He urged the police to work with more vigour to recover Adiba Mubarak.
