RAWALPINDI:

The police have issued a foolproof plan to ensure security on Christmas.

Over 2,800 police officials will be deployed at churches and missionary schools in Rawalpindi city and Cantt areas. Everyone will be body-searched at the gates of churches where walkthrough gates will also be installed. Separate arrangements have been made for children and women.

A Central Control Room has been set up at the CPO office to coordinate security arrangements, which will be monitored with the help of 400 CCTV cameras. Police check-posts will be set up at the entrances to sensitive churches. Vehicles will be allowed to park at designated places at a safe distance from churches.

The Bomb Disposal Squad will issue clearance certificates after scanning the main halls of all churches on Christmas day. The management of churches have assured full cooperation to ensure the implementation of the security plan without any interruption.

CPO Sajid Kayani has directed senior police officers to personally monitor the duties assigned for Christmas day and Midnight Service from time to time and brief the on-duty personnel about their duties. “It is our duty to protect the Christian community on Christmas and to ensure that they celebrate their festive occasion in peace,” he said.
