CM to lay Bahawaipur secretariat’s foundation

Says ‘ring fencing’ of budget for region yielded positive results

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that the foundation stone of the South Punjab secretariat would be laid soon in Bahawalpur.

Chairing a special committee meeting in which participants were briefed about matters relating to the secretariat, he said the PTI-led government was fulfilling its promises made with the people.

The chief minister said work on development schemes in South Punjab was in progress speedily, while ring fencing of the budget for the region had also yielded positive results.

“The development schemes will be completed speedily while ensuring transparency as I am personally monitoring the progress,” he said, urging the South Punjab secretariat staff to burn the midnight oil to serve the masses.

He said the establishment of an autonomous secretariat would result in solving South Punjab's problems.

Efforts were also under way to ensure implementation of the employment quota for South Punjab’s youth, the chief minister concluded.

Provincial Ministers Hashim Jawan Bakht, Dr Akhtar Malik, Sardar Mohsin Leghari, Sardar Hasnain Bahadur Dreshak and Syed Hussain Jahanian Gardezi, Special Assistant Hasaan Khawar, the chief secretary, additional CS and secretaries of relevant departments attended the meeting.
