A report citing reasons for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)'s loss in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) local body polls has been prepared on the directives of provincial chief minister Mehmood Khan, Express News reported on Wednesday.
The PTI faced a setback in the LG polls as the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) clinched the mayor’s seat in Peshawar - the previous stronghold of the ruling party.
As per details, action will be taken against members of the National Assembly on the basis of the report which revealed that the main reasons for the PTI’s defeat were internal differences, inflation and some PTI MNAs not supporting the party's nominees.
According to PTI sources, before submitting the report to Prime Minister Imran Khan, CM Mehmood held consolations with close provincial ministers.
It had been further reported that a decision had been taken to initiate action against two members of the National Assembly and four members of the provincial assembly for supporting the opposition’s candidates.

A consultative meeting on the report, chaired by PM Imran, is likely to be held today in which important decisions will be taken.
The CM and governor K-P, speaker of National Assembly and some provincial ministers have also been invited to the meeting.
A day earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan admitted that the PTI had made ‘mistakes’ in the first phase of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s local government elections and pinned the blame on "wrong candidate selection”.
The premier's tweet came a day after the PTI lost several seats in the province. PM Imran stated that his party had “paid the price” for its mistakes, adding that he would “personally” be overseeing the PTI’s LG election strategy in the second phase of the provincial local body polls as well as those held across the country.
The premier’s tweet came in the wake of the ruling PTI suffering a major blow as the JUI-F cruised to victory with its candidate grabbing the pivotal post of the Peshawar mayor in the first phase of the local government elections held in K-P since the merger of the tribal districts.
