The wedding festivities of PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz’s son Junaid Safdar have recently been making headlines, with the latter tying the knot with Ayesha Saif in a series of regal ceremonies in Pakistan and the UK.
Following the couple's recent Mayun event, which was a traditional affair, pictures from the duo's extravagant Mehendi ceremony in Islamabad, which took place on December 12, have flooded social media.
Complete with floral decor and an abundance of shimmering outfits, the musical night saw the Sharif family singing and grooving along to songs, with videos from the event taking over most social media feeds over the weekend. The family was dressed to the nines, with their outfits being the talk of the town after pictures from the event surfaced on the internet.
The bride stunned in a crimson-coloured ensemble, paired with a heavily-embellished copper dupatta and an elaborate chunri shawl designed by the celebrated designer Bunto Kazmi. The fact that Ayesha opted for a non-traditional colour for the Mehendi outfit kept things fun and interesting. However, the groom went down a more traditional path, opting for a crisp white shalwar kameez that was paired with an off-white silk shawl draped around his shoulders. Junaid completed the look with a pair of brown monk strap shoes that went perfectly with the understated and elegant look.
While the bride and groom looked beautiful, the latter's politician mother also made a fashion statement, being the style icon that she is. Unaffected by ageist comments, Maryam Nawaz looked gorgeous in an ice blue lehenga choli, embellished with heavy silver mirror work by Indian designer Abhinav Mishra.
The couple's reception is scheduled to take place on December 17 in Lahore, with the two officially having tied the knot in a grand ceremony in London earlier this year in August.
